It usually ranges from October through March, but typically most widespread during January and February. This time of year, schools echo with coughs, sniffles and sore throats and I would like to touch upon some health habits that will keep this winter as healthy as possible for all of us. Most of these illnesses are spread by droplet and contact exposure, which means you breathe in the germ in the 3-6 foot area around the person or touch something they have infected. There are three easy practices you can do to help fight the spread of all infection, whether it is the common cold, flu or strep throat. These include: -Wash your hands -Cover your mouth -Avoid close contact A last important reminder is to please keep your child home when sick to reduce the risk of infecting others and to allow them the proper time to rest and recover. Flu shots are available at Speare Hospital as well as most of the physicians and pediatricians offices. HELMETS I have had more inquiries about ordering bike and ski helmets from those that missed the December order that went home with the children. If you are interested in ordering let me know and I will place another order. WATER BOTTLES Please clean weekly and after you child has been sick.
